Syrup is back — now in its second year of pressing — The 2024 batch was what helped us fall in love with Kurracorp and it’s easily one of the sweetest, most comforting ripe puerhs we’ve shared.
This tea is made from wet-piled, fermented spring leaf harvested in 2023 and pressed in 2025 in Yunnan, China. Like last year’s Syrup, it carries that familiar warmth and earthiness, but this version leans even further into softness, sweetness, and ease. The mouthfeel is thick and luxurious, with zero astringency from first pour to last.
In the cup, Syrup opens with a warm, buttery aroma, followed by a rich, viscous body and a tongue-coating sweetness reminiscent of blackstrap molasses. As you linger, a subtle salty note appears in the aftertaste — the kind that has you reaching back for the cup almost without thinking. Each steep reveals another shade of sweetness, unfolding gently from its buttery, biscuit-like core.
This is a deeply drinkable ripe puerh that gets a high rotation at our place and plays well with just about any brewing style. Set aside time for a slow, nourishing gongfu session, or brew it grandpa-style and let it carry you quietly through the day. Either way, it’s hard to miss.
Enjoy.
