We first encountered this tea through the tea club — a 7g sample tucked into the March 2024 box — and it lingered with us long enough that we knew it deserved a wider life and to share with you.
This is one of those white2tea experiments that’s been quietly unfolding for years. A blend of aged raw puerh maocha from the early 2010s, pressed together with lightly fermented, small-batch shou puerh that’s already 3–5 years old. The intention here is clear: to evoke the feeling of a tea with decades of age, without the decades-long wait.
In the cup, it pours a dark red soup. Aged aromas from the raw maocha rise first, carrying a little bite and structure, resting beneath the thick, smooth, grounding character of the shou. Recently pressed, this tea is still knitting itself together — and with a bit of time, it promises to become a deeply satisfying companion for lovers of aged tea, especially those drinking thoughtfully (and on a budget).
